Anti Aging Sunblock

Why is it important to use an anti aging sunblock?

Sunblock (also called sunscreen) is used to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun’s dangerous UV rays.  Sunblock, when applied properly, can be compared to a soldier wearing a bulletproof vest when going out into combat.  The more protection, the less of a chance that something bad happens.

Sunblocks come in all shapes, forms, and spf (sun protection factors) numbers.  This is because people have different skin types and different desires when they go out into the sun.  Some people, in search for that perfect tan, will use a very low spf sunblock that will allow the sun to penetrate their bodies and basically protect them at an extreme minimum.  You can even see examples of people who take those people who tend to use tanning accelerators – these people are usually the ones you see 30 years later all wrinkled!

Sometimes it’s best to just take the smart approach to tanning.  You can still get a great tan when you use a high spf number sunblock.  Most people think you need an spf 2 or 5 to tan well.  That is simply not true, and for most people with light skin, they will learn the hard way what a low spf sunblock will do to them when they are near the equator.

Dermatologists are recommending people use anti aging sunblocks if they want to prevent wrinkles and keep their skin tone smooth.  Sun damage is one of the number one signs of aging, and the nasty spots that can appear from years later are difficult, if not impossible, to erase.  Sure, you can get a chemical peel, but they are invasive, time-consuming, and can only correct small amounts of sun damage with each treatment.  It’s best to just protect yourself from the get-go and be safe when you are in the sun.

Anti aging sunblocks, as we enter 2010, are formulated with the following features….

  • Anti-Wrinkle ingredients, such as Acetyl HexaPeptide 3 (Argireline)
  • High SPF count to block the most harmful UV rays
  • Ability to moisturize the skin and protect it from natural elements
  • Rich in anti-oxidants

In a Fox News Report, Dr. Neil Sadick had this to say about the use of sunblock….

“While genetics, environment and stress play a factor in the aging process, the most significant factor that causes skin to age, discolor and wrinkle is sun exposure. There is a 10-20 year lag period from the time you’re exposed to ultraviolet light, sun irradiation, environmental toxins and pollutants to the development of both skin cancer and aged skin. Basically, sun damage accumulates over a long period and is visible 10-20 years later.

The most effective defense against unhealthy, aged skin is to use a broad-spectrum UVB/UVA sunblock in your daily skincare regimen. Everyone in your family, regardless of age should apply sunblock daily – from infancy onwards.”
